CHORUS
Armoured cars and tanks and guns
 Voitures blindées, tanks et fusils
Came to take away our sons
Sont venus pour emporter nos fils
But every man will stand behind
Mais chacun soutiendra
The men behind the wire
Les hommes derrière les barbelés

Through the little streets of Belfast
A travers les ruelles de Belfast
In the dark of early morn
Dans le noir du petit matin
British soldiers came marauding
Les soldats britanniques sont venus maraudant
Wrecking little homes with scorn
Heedless of the crying children
Sans se soucier des enfants en pleur
Dragging fathers from their beds
Beating sons while helpless mothers
Watched the blood pour from their heads
Voyaient le sang couler de leurs têtes.

CHORUS

Not for them a judge and jury
Pour eux ni juge ni jury
Nor indeed a trial at all
Pas de procès non plus,
But being Irish means you´re guilty
Etre Irlandais, c'est être coupable
So we´re guilty one and all
Alors nous sommes tous coupables.
Round the world the truth will echo
Cromwell´s men are here again
Les hommes de Cromwell sont de retour
England´s name again is sullied
In the eyes of honest men.
Aux yeux des honnêtes hommes.

CHORUS

Proud we march behind our banner
Marchons fièrement derrière nos bannières
Firm we´ll stand behind our men
Tenons bon pour nos hommes
We will have them free to help us
Build a nation once again
Construire une Nation de nouveau.
On the people step together
Le peuple marchera uni,
Proudly firmly on their way
Fier et déterminé avec eux
Never fear and never falter
Sans crainte, nous ne chancellerons pas
Till the boys come home to stay

The town I loved so well

In my memory I will always see    Dans ma mémoire je verrai toujours The town that I have loved so well  La ville que j'ai tant aimée.  Where our school played ball by the gas yard wall  Avec l’école, on jouait au ballon près du mur de l’usine à gaz  And we laughed through the smoke and the smell  Et on riait entourés de fumées et de mauvaises odeurs.  Going home in the rain, running up the dark lane  On rentrait à la maison sous la pluie, on courait dans les rues sombres  Past the jail and down behind the fountain  Juste après la prison, plus bas, à côté de la fontaine.  Those were happy days in so many, many ways  C'étaient des jours heureux à bien des égards  In the town I loved so well Dans la ville que j'aimais tant     In the early morning the shirt factory horn    Au petit matin la sirène de l'usine de chemises retentissait Called women from Creggan, the Moor and the Bog  Appel...

Come out ye Black & Tans

I was born on a Dublin street where the Royal drums do beat   Je suis né dans une rue de Dublin où battaient les tambours royaux  And those loving English feet they walked all over us  Où ces adorables bottes anglaises nous écrasaient  And every single night when me father‘d come home tight  Et chaque soir quand mon père rentrait ivre à la maison  He'd invite our neighbors outside with this chorus  Il invitait nos voisins à sortir en chantant ce refrain  [Chorus] Oh, come out you black and tans*; come out and fight me like a man! Show your wife how you won medals down in Flanders  Montrez à vos femmes comment vous avez gagné vos médailles en Flandre  Tell her how the IRA made you run like hell away  Dites-leur comment l'IRA vous a fait fuir en courant  From the green and lovely lanes in Killeshandra    Des belles ruelles ...

Fields of Athenry

LES CHAMPS D’ATHENRY By a lonely prison wall    Près du mur d'une prison isolée I heard a young girl calling    J'ai entendu une jeune fille appeler Michael, they have taken you away    "Michael ils t'ont enlevé à moi For you stole Trevelyan*'s corn    Pour avoir volé le blé de Trevelyan* So the young might see the morn    Afin que nos enfants puissent voir le jour. Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay   Maintenant un bateau de prisonniers t'attend dans la baie"    CHORUS:    REFRAIN:  Low lie the fields of Athenry    Là-bas sont les champs d'Athenry Where once we watched the small free birds fly    Où un jour, nous regardâmes les petits oiseaux voler librement Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing   Notre amour sur leurs ailes s'envolait bien haut It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry   Il n'y a plus que la solitude près des champs d'At...
